A guy and a girl and their danes

14 notes &

home sweet home
This house has been our nightmare and our solace and a pain in the ass and a dream come true.  When we first got it, there was SO much to do and fix. It was built in 1910 so…things happen.
We’ve fixed all the electrical problems. Put more insulation in the attic, added a fence for the danes, built a floating deck, and put nice wood laminate flooring in the living room and our bedroom.
Next big things will be paving the tiny driveway in the front, and then adding a pergola to the back deck that P and his dad built last summer. (Hopefully in time for spring!)
Here’s to old homes, and lived in homes, and home improvements and the things that drain our bank accounts and the countess hours painting and scrubbing and budgeting and pinching pennies and scraping by…..and sometimes they are all worth it.
To have a place to call home.  I’ve loved a lot of places I have lived, but I think it will break my heart if/when I move out of this one. So much blood, sweat, and tears were given here! Not to mention it’s our first home as a married couple.  No matter where our next home is, I think this one will always hold a seriously big space in our hearts.
